Tooth #3 has disappeared!

Yes, that's right. I never knew that this could happen, but his tooth has now surfaced and then his gums swallowed it back up - twice. Those are some slow-moving teeth. I wonder if it will ever make it past the gum barrier! I hope so, otherwise we are doomed to sleepless nights forever....

Anyway onto more pleasant thoughts. I put some bird seed out on our balcony, and a squirrel comes by to help himself. He and Maggie had a staring contest this morning. The squirrel won only because Sean came over to see what was going on and scared Maggie away.

Getting ready to go out somewhere....

The filing cabinet is a great aid in standing up!

Sean loves to play underneath the dining room table. He is almost too tall so I know this won't last long.

Sean is quite talkative. Hmm I wonder where he gets that trait....

Tooth #3 (upper right) has surfaced!

Ah, so that's why Sean woke up about six times last night! Goodness gracious.

Sean is ready to become a Buckeye!

The little man was seen wearing a plaid flannel shirt with jeans today. I think he is ready to help Grandpa Hogan do some yard work back home in good old Ohio!

In other news, it was 71 DEGREES here yesterday! So we went to the park for lunch.

Some photos & videos

What a good eater!

In the carrier at home.

Oops this one is sideways. Anyway, look at Dad all dressed up! (This doesn't happen very often so we had to take a picture of it!)

Sean is trying to say something, we just don't know what!

I think it's something along the lines of "I want to grab that camera out of your hands!"

Here's a photo of Dad when he was about Sean's age - I see a resemblance, especially in the eyes.

Now for some videos:

Playing on the couch.

Talking to Maggie.

Working on the walking skills.

This one's a little more successful.

Valentine's visit

Grandma and Grandpa Spoonhower came to visit last weekend. Despite Sean and then Mom & Dad getting a cold, we all had a good time. Hopefully the grandparents made it out of Maryland healthy!

Here are some photos from the weekend, in no particular order....

This is typically what we find when Sean wakes up from a nap. The good news is that he has been napping longer lately, and he doesn't wake up crying as much anymore (which means he has gotten enough sleep).

Still loving the piano!

Sean is not happy to be held by someone other than Mom or Dad. Well, too bad, Mr. Sean, the picture needed to be taken!

We drove to DC on Saturday to spend some time with Uncle Paul. We walked around the Mall for a while, since it was so nice out - it was sunny and about 50 degrees!

Sean's favorite nap spot - in the carrier.

He woke up when we reached the end of the reflecting pool.

Sean navigates a stair or two while visiting at Uncle Paul's.

"Ten little ladybugs sitting on a vine. Along came a butterfly, then there were...."

Tractor wheels are so tasty!

Sean is so smart he can even read books when they are upside-down!

Getting into Dad's toys (the video game / DVD cabinet).

Sean knows where to find all the things he is not supposed to touch. Here it's the cord for the lamp.

Gee, Sean, you look so thankful for all the great gifts Grandma and Grandpa brought for you!

Again, Sean is not happy to be held by someone other than Mom or Dad. At least he's not crying here. Maybe he's finding comfort in Mom's hair pick. Who knows.

Grandma and Grandpa, thanks for coming to visit! It was a lot of fun! Hopefully we'll see you again soon.

Time inside the womb = time outside the womb

Today marks a big day for Mr. Sean. He is 9 months old today! I do believe that the first nine months of his life were the most remarkable - he went from being a one-cell person (something akin to this) and totally dependent on my body to sustain his life, to being a full-grown baby with hair, fingernails, etc. Oh yeah and did I mention a well-developed set of lungs? :)

So when you think about it that way, the past nine months, from May 8 until today, haven't been quite so remarkable as the previous nine months were. However Sean has reached a few notable milestones since last May. I think he has reached all the ones he should have achieved by now, at least according to my book. I'm sure the experts who have never met him would think he has failed on a few minor points (for example the nurse at his last well-baby visit asked me if he knows "Bye-bye." I was thinking, "Well of course not because I never say that whenever we go anywhere! How silly!") but we won't dwell on those.

Anyway enough babbling, let's move on to the photos, shall we?

This is what our apartment typically looks like just after dinner. Oh my.

Post-cleanup.

Sean still loves the piano and can now play it all by himself!

Here's proof that Sean does sleep, although sometimes it seems like he is perpetually awake.

This was taken just after Sean woke up from a nap with his winter hat on (we went for a walk outside for his nap).

That seems to be the extent of the interesting photos I could find for now. Grandma and Grandpa Spoonhower are visiting for the weekend, so I'm sure we'll have many more photos coming in the next few days!

Yay!

Finally.... we can go out to eat wherever we want!

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/bal-md.smoking02feb02,0,6968713.story

If only the ban also applied to apartment buildings, then we could breathe clean air in our own home as well. (We have a smoker who lives below us and we can smell her cigarette smoke in everything - our clothes, our kitchen cabinets, coming out of the air ducts when the heater turns on....)
