We got a pretty good snow storm last week. It snowed a bit, then we had some rain/freezing rain, then more snow. We had a tough time shoveling the driveway with the layer of ice in the middle of the snow. We just did the bare minimum to be able to get the car out. Anyway, Sean enjoying helping with his pint-sized shovel from Grandma and Grandpa Spoonhower.
Sean was not too happy in this one because he had just gotten a face full of snow. He still looked at the camera when I asked him to, though!

I think it was the next morning when I opened the blinds next to our front door and saw some deer walking in Jerry (our across-the-street neighbor)'s front yard coming across to our yard. Usually we see about four at a time. This time, they invited a few friends. A few minutes later we counted fourteen deer in our yard at one time. And I want to put a garden in this spring? Yeah good luck with that, right? I'm going to have to erect a 6-foot fence, I think. Some of you might think this is crazy and extreme, but deer eat everything. And I think it's worth the effort in order to have fresh produce. Have you ever grown your own peas? I'm telling you, it's heaven!
Anyway, here are the deer making their way across the street.
They continued on to the backyard, where they proceeded to nibble on the white pine (Ack! I just ordered some white pine seedlings to plant this spring!) and eat straight out of the bird feeder. I think the birds get about 25% of the food, and the squirrels and the deer get the rest.

More camera smiles.

On Monday mornings Sean and I go to the library for Baby Time (and I can't believe in a few months we will be graduating to Toddler Time! Woo-hoo!). They had free sheets of stickers from the PBS show The Electric Company on the counter, so I picked one up. We've never watched the show, but hey, free stickers! Sean immediately pointed to this guy and said, "Dada!"

I do imagine that is how Jeff would dance...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Jeff dancing, stay tuned for some videos I hope to post soon. :)
ReplyDeleteTru dat!
ReplyDeleteJeffy S in da houz, y'all!
ReplyDeletewait a minute...you guys never watched The Electric Company?!?! perhaps you're too young! lol
ReplyDeleteImpressive herd of deer there...I bet you could still put your garden up though. I'm sure their forging for food in the dead of winter, when things aren't growing, is what is concerning you! ;)
Jenny, you're probably right about the deer. We have never seen so many, and that was a few days after the big snow/ice storm.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I thought The Electric Company sounded familiar - I may have watched it one or two times. I think PBS just came out with a new cast or something, I'm not sure.
