Adventures in California

Today marks two weeks since Sean and I arrived in Novato.

The day we arrived, we walked to downtown (Novato) and found these really cool concrete horses to sit on. I am going to try to figure out how to make one or buy one for my yard at home. You know, in my copious spare time.

One of Sean's new favorite pastimes is to scribble in the notebook that contains all of my lists, to-dos, etc. He knows he's not supposed to, but he thinks it's hilarious. (Last week I bought him his own notebook to scribble in, after he ripped apart the "Dinner Ideas" page.)

Playing peekaboo with the old favorite sun hat.

Last weekend we drove to Healdsburg, which is in wine country. We tasted some wines at one place and then went to the park to hang out. We had more fun eating cookies at the park than tasting wine. I did, at least.

After having a sugary cookie, Sean definitely needed a drink from the water fountain.

Sean's hair has been looking kind of scraggly, so I decided to give him a haircut. I would like for his hair to be longer (not a mullet or a surf 'do, but not military-style either), but his hair is still just too thin to look good long. I put him in his high chair in front of the tv. His favorite show is "Signing Time," which I discovered on PBS in Baltimore. That was one of the best things I got out of Baltimore.

Here is Sean watching Rachel of "Signing Time." We don't watch too much tv at our house, but that is one that we all enjoy.

A few days ago we walked around the hill behind our condo. We found some California poppies (not pictured), which Sean was very excited about - I think because of the book Frederick, about a poetic mouse who is shown holding a Flanders poppy on the cover. Anyway, Sean really liked walking around in the long grass. Not to worry, we kept an eye out for snakes and didn't see any. (Now I've got the Grandmas worried!)

I was going to upload some videos, but I just discovered that Google Video is no longer accepting uploads. I'll have to find another place to do that and then post....
